The Kauppilanmäki open-air museum is situated in Valkeakoski city centre, a few hundred metres to the south of the canal. There are five houses that illustrate the way paper workers used to live from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century. There are also a Workers’ Hall, a genuine smoke sauna, a carriage shed and storage houses in the museum area.
The museum area is open during the summer. The area is also a park, where in the summer you can visit some sheep. Events are organized in the area, such as theatre evenings and artisan markets. Welcome!
