Autumn break tips


Are you planning to spend an autumn break with friends, that special someone or older children? Here are tips for you! 


All romantic

Dark nights, city lights and those historical red brick buildings… Tampere is athmospheric especially in the autumn. Finland’s first roof walk, Roof Walk Finlayson Area, offers a unique experience on top of the Finlayson factory roofs. For autumn break they have expanded their opening hours so you can see the beautiful night lights of Tampere. Make sure you reserve the guided City View route in advance! 

At night time a walk along the Tammerkoski rapids is definitely the thing to add to your bucket list. Places like Kehräsaari, Verkaranta, Frenckell, Tampella and Finlayson are a part of the Tampere industrial heritage and can be found nearby the rapids. From Tammerkoski nature trail you can find information about the flora and fauna of the area.

Great gigs ahead! Check out what G Livelab, Olympia-kortteliTTT-klubi, Tullikamari & Pakkahuone and Tampere Hall offer for autumn break! 

Pay a visit to Kangasala Arts Centre, located in the center of Kangasala, a 15-minute drive from Tampere city center. Kangasala Arts Centre’s event repertoire includes classical and light music, visual arts, theater, cinema, dance and literature. On Saturday  10.10. a cappella -band Rajaton will perform and on Wednesday 14.10. jazzband Jazzmuseo will perform. Concert tickets also allows free entrance to the Kimmo Pyykkö art museum for one hour before the show.  


Nature and activities

Tampere weekly lake city activities has a great listing of things to do on autumn break. Check out for example abseiling down the Pyynikki Observation Tower on Sundays!  

Feeling like climbing trees? Then Flowpark Varala is the place to go! The beautiful lake views at Pyynikki and over 20 meter heights are worth experiencing.  Flowpark is open on 10.-11.10. and 14.10.-18.10 from Wednesday to Sunday at 12-18.

Pyynikki nature reserve nearby the city centre is a lovely place to relax and go for a walk. The’s also a nature trail in the area. Make sure you have time for a visit the Pyynikki Observation Tower

Team work and problem solving in the  historical Finlayson factory area. Unfold Finlayson is a mixture of innovative problem solving, fascinating places and beautiful views overlooking the city as well as Lake Näsijärvi. If you’re looking for a memorable experience while in town – look no further!

Head out for a hike in marsh area! Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark has several marked trails and also other interesting natural and cultural sites.

Painting, wine and good times! Paint & Party offers open painting nights at restaurant Teerenpeli on Saturday 10.10 and 17.10. Make sure to reserve your place in advance! 

Backlight Photo Festival  is an international photo festival organized every three years since 1987 by the Photographic centre Nykyaika, in the city of Tampere. Backlight is one of the oldest and largest international photography festivals in Northern Europe. Backlight exhibits contemporary photography of social and global importance. The exhibition is open until 8.11.2020.
