Christmas time is a celebration of music! There are several venues where you can forget festive stress and relax by listening to beautiful music – of different genres.
Christmas Carols in English are sung at the Old Church at Keskustori on December 8. If you want to listen to, or sing along, Christmas Carols in Finnish, there are many possibilities for this. See the programme on the web page of Tampere Ev. Lut. Parishes.
At Tampere Hall you can enjoy melodies from J.S. Bach’s Christmas Oratorio, the classic Snowman concert, Blue Christmas Tour by Erja Lyytinen & Friends, and a cappella music by Rajaton. Club for Five brings Christmas vibes with their Jouluna 2021 -concert. If you wish to see some ballett, Estonian National Opera is coming for a visit to perform Alice in Wonderland (Dec 11).
Culture House Laikku has several concerts. Some have free entrance.
Kangasala-talo Arts Centre offers Martin Alvarado‘s concert and some a cappella music by Lauluyhtye Valkea. For children there is a concert by Satu Sopanen & Tuttiorkesteri.
Tampereen konservatorio (Music Institute) players and singers perform in several churches and Culture House Laikku, as well as at the Institute at Pyynikintori.
If you want to experience some Christmas atmosphere at the theatre, there is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens at Tampere Theatre. This play is a tradition in Tampere as it is being performed 10th year in a row! Three performances will be streamed online. The performance is in Finnish.
The Snow Queen at Nokia Arena Jan1 -Jan 3, 2022 is certainly a memorable experience with beloved stars like Kiira Korpi, Susanna Rahkamo, Petri Kokko and Marko “Mörkö” Anttila. POSTPONED UNTIL DEC 30 2022 – JAN 1 2023.
Sorin Sirkus‘ traditional Christmas show is called Soilu. It is an exciting adventure in the wild in winter. Hold your breath!
For children, there are also Ti-Ti Nallen joulutarina at Komediateatteri. Puppet Theatre Mukamas has two shows, Christmas Is Coming and Silent Night from the perspective of a loyal donkey. These shows are in Finnish. Finlayson Area advent calendar is produced in cooperation with Mukamas, and it can be seen both online and at Väinö Linnan Aukio Square.
