Easter in Finland – and in Tampere – is usually the time to relax and spend some quality time with your family. This means that some of the restaurants, museums and other attractions are closed or have changes to their opening hours. We recommend you to check restaurants’ opening hours directly from their websites.
Here are some tips we’ve gathered about what to do in Tampere and the surroundings during the Easter holidays!
Ideapark shopping center is the perfect place to spend time with your kids. Ideapark is located in Lempäälä, only 10 minutes from Tampere and it’s very easy to reach (bus number 55 from Keskustori central square). In Ideapark, there’s Finland’s most versatile indoor amusement park Zones by Särkänniemi, Ti-Ti Bear’s Home where the children get to play and interact with the Bear family, and also lots of shops and restaurants.
Museums are closed on Friday 19 April and on Monday 22 April, except for the Spy Museum which is open on Monday. The World’s only Moomin Museum is exceptionally open only until 4pm on Thursday 18 April and is also closed on Friday and on Monday. Shops at the largest shopping centre in Tampere, Ratina Shopping Centre, is open on Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, on Friday from 12 am to 6 pm, on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm, on Sunday from 12 am to 5 pm and on Monday from 12 am to 6 pm. Koskikeskus shopping centre has the same opening hours except on Sunday, when the shops are open until 6 pm.
Rauhaniemi public sauna is situated by the lake Näsijärvi, where the sauna and the cosy swimming beach offer a lovely experience. Rauhaniemi is located only a couple of kilometers from Keskustori central square, in the district of Lapinniemi. You can get there easily with bus number 2 from the city, and there’s also parking space near the beach. Check out the sauna prices here. Opening times on Easter: Thursday 18 April from 3 pm to 10 pm, Friday 19 April to Monday 22 April from 1 pm to 8 pm.
Tullin Sauna is open every day during the Easter holidays! Tullin Sauna is an urban sauna in the heart of the city, next to Tampere-hall. In the Tullin Sauna, you can relax in two mixed saunas, enjoy bistro delicacies and work in inspirational and stylish meeting and work spaces.
You can enjoy a nice brunch on Saturday 20 April at Tullin Sauna or at Tullikamari Klubi! Brunch is also available at Restaurant Poro in Koskikeskus shopping centre on Saturday and on Sunday. We recommend booking your table in advance.
Easter is heavy this year! On Friday 19 April at Tullikamari Pakkahuone the Swedish pop metal band Dead by April will throw a show and on Saturday 20 April at YO-talo Tampere, the SaariHelvetti Easterbash will be showcasing the Finnish death metal band Ajattara!
If you’re not that into heavy music, you should go to Tampere Hall on Thursday 18 April and enjoy Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra‘s Maundy Thursday Concert: Requiem and the Holy Grail.
On Good Friday, 19 April, in addition to Sunday schedule, buses run late-night P-service. On both Easter Days, 21-22 April, buses run on Sunday schedule. Check out the timetables here.
