Pyhäjärvi Lake Trail – Näsijärvi Lake Trail‘s buddy – offers diverse cycling routes for an active traveller. The Tampere Region opens up to you in a completely new way when seen from the saddle of a bike. Opportunities to stop and admire sceneries are easier than when travelling by car. Full of local products, leisure, culture, nature and peace, the Pyhäjärvi Lake Trail offers four ready-to-go tracks: the scenic route Maisemareitti, route to the manor house Laukko, lake Roine route and Vaeltaja – the wanderer. Accommodation and food services can be found along the route in many shapes and forms. Small unique cafés and snack kiosks, B&B’s, local produce farms and restaurants ensure comfortable breaks from cycling from one place to another. If you are interested in mansions, Pyhäjärvi Lake Trail has lots of them! Take the Mansion Track (Kartanoiden kierros) and soak in summer, season’s atmosphere and history. If you are travelling with kids you might want to take an easy day trip Lilliputti, a 10 kilometre track which goes from Näsijärvi to Pyhäjärvi near Tampere city centre. On this route, you get to see Uittotunneli (tunnel connecting lake Näsijärvi and lake Pyhäjärvi) and the café there, as well as the Pyynikki Observation Tower – scenic and tasty coffee breaks are guaranteed!
Suviajot are free guided bike tours organised every summer Saturday. Themes for the tours are Family, Culture and Mansion. You can find themes and calendar here ( in Finnish). Guidance is in Finnish and English, so everyone can join in! Don’t have a bike with you on your travels? Not to worry, you can rent one from E.A.T. Prices here. These bikes are available for rent for longer trips as well.
You can take a Finnish Silverline cruise on lake Pyhäjärvi or to the destinations of the Pyhäjärvi Lake Trail. Local trains also serve cyclists, just remember to book the cruise or train trip in advance. Hop on your bike and start exploring lake Pyhäjärvi area and its many destinations!
