Winter holiday fun in Tampere!


Tampere and it’s region offer many fun things to do on winter holiday – safely! We have gathered you fun tips for winter holiday season. Please visit the sites in a safe and responsible way, also taking into account the local recommendations. Also make sure to confirm information about opening hours and safety from companies’ own web pages or social media.


Outdoor activities

If you want to go downhill skiing, you don’t have to go far! Did you know that Tampere has it’s own skiing center, Mustavuori. Check out also Sappee in Pälkäne and Ellivuori in Sastamala. They have several slopes of different levels and plenty of other fun things to do, as well as accommodation. 

The closest locations from the city centre to do cross-country skiing are Kauppi sports park and the Pyynikki area. Altogether there are about 80 kilometres of lit skiing tracks inside the Tampere city limits. 

For ice skating you can head out to Sorsapuisto. The artificial ice area is open for everyone and you can for example speed skate or play ice hockey. Another good option is the ice skating rink in Koulukatu. Tohloppi skating track offers a lot of fun on ice. They rent out skates and they also have a café!

Lauhanvuori – Hämeenkangas UNESCO Global Geopark has plenty of outdoor and hiking opportunities. You can also enjoy delicacies, shop in the on-site shops and relax in the sauna and natural spa treatments.

Abseiling down the Pyynikki Observation Tower is an amazing experience. This is where you really feel like you are on top of the world! You`ll find Kelo ja kallio adventures at the tower on Saturdays. No reservation is needed, just come to the tower and start to shiver. Make sure you check their Facebook for most recent information.

In Teisko Winery you can rent out kicksledges for couple of hours and afterwards enjoy hot cocoa with marshmallows!


Cultural fun live and virtually!

Vapriikki museum centre  has a lot to see and experience. Tip! On Valentine’s Day Vapriikki has a special offer: two for the price of one!

Book your visit to the worlds only Moomin Museum and Tampere Art Museum! The museums follow the recommendations from regional corona steering group and take 10 visitors at a time. Museo Milavida opens it’s doors on February 26th.

James Bond and other spies in fiction have born from role models. The words first Spy Museum is the place where you get to know these real people and their equipment. 

 Nostalgic old cars and much more! Mobilia national automobile and road museum has lots to see and experience for the whole family. On February 28h the museum organizes a winter get together for Lada cars.

Kimmo Pyykkö museum has an interesting exhibition from 33 different female artists. The exhibition showcases photographs, drawings, paintings and sculptures.

Serlachius museums are open within the safety regulations. Tip! You can purchase your ticket beforehand and confirm your entrance to the museum.

What can you do indoors?

Escape rooms are a great way to spend time with family or smaal group of friends. Room Escape Tampere has  four different escape rooms and they all are suitable for the whole family. 

Irti Maasta is a fun place for climbing. It’s located in the heart of Tullintori shopping centre. 

Trampolin Park Wild has many different tamprolins for jumping, tricks and games.

ZBase is a cyberpunk themed entertainment center in downtown Tampere, inside business center Siperia in Finlayson. The entertainment centercombines laser war, power football and retro Game Bar along with services, all under the same roof. All the activities are also suitable for children.

Take a peek under water! In Särkänniemi Aquarium you can get to know reptiles, frogs and circa 200 fish species. 

Winter holiday is also great time for shopping. See what shopping centres Ratina and Ideapark have to offer and get to know their safety regulations. 


Tips for the young ones

The beautiful old time idyll in Tampere Centre, the Stable Yards is an experience for the whole family! 

Children’s Cultural Centre Rulla is a colourful children’s cultural centre where children are allowed to create their own artwork and participate in fun and exciting events. Different exhibitions are also always on display for children. Rulla accepts only 9 visitors at a time. In order for everyone to be able to visit Rulla safely, the visit time is limited to one hour. Visits can be booked in advance by phone.

The house of Mr. Clutterbuck  in Sastamala lets visitors immerse themselves in play, regardless of age: playing, dressing up in role-play costumes, colourful sights and sounds. 

Varala sports academy has plenty of activities for children and families during winter holiday.

HopLop and Leo’s Leikkimaa have plenty of space to play and be active! 


Tasty times and a good night sleep

Cat café Purnauskis is the home of the cats and you are invited for a visit. Have a cup of delicious coffee or a tasty meal while enjoying the company of our playful cats.

Bunny café / 3D Crush Café is an ordinary café with extraordinary services. Try 3D printing or bunny therapy! 

Restaurant Näsineula and Neula Sky Café offer unique tastes with amazing views. 

If you want a good night sleep and a tasty breakfast served to the table head to Vaihmalan Hovi in Lempäälä. Lovely cross country skiing tracks are located next to the hotel and afterwards you can relax in a steam sauna.
