The International IVV Olympiads are a fun and festive celebration of recreational exercise, where everyone has the chance to earn their own Olympic medal! There is no timekeeping or performance measurement – participants simply enjoy the joy of movement amidst the stunning landscapes of Tampere.
The event village is located at Keskustori central square, from where all walking routes start and return each day. Cycling begins in front of the Kauppi Sport Center, and swimming takes place in Lake Kaukajärvi in front of the Uinti Tampere sauna. Canoeing starts from the Kaupinoja shore, and orienteering is held in the Kauppi forest. Orienteering can be done in larger groups at a self-chosen time during the Olympiads, while the other activities are individual performances.
For the wider audience, the most spectacular event is the flag parade on Thursday, August 14, starting at 2pm, followed by the opening ceremony at 3pm, which is free for all to attend.
