Loud Silents Festival is dedicated to silent films and live music. The festival takes place in Tampere, Finland annually in April.
Each year Loud Silents invites a bunch of musicians to compose brand new soundtracks for silent films. After its launch in 2013, Loud Silents has presented 29 unique combinations of moving image and live music, such as 1920’s animated shorts with experimental rap, Ice Hockey world championship final with jazz, and German expressionist films with indie pop.
The festival venues are Ylioppilasteatteri, a cosy theatre with a lovely little bar (and a history as an adult movie theatre) and Pyynikkisali, a beautiful concert hall.
Loud Silents has grown from a one-day event to a three-day festival with evening clubs and discussions. In addition to the festival, Loud Silents organises film screenings with live music around the year, both in Finland and abroad.
