In the Book Festival, we celebrate domestic literature, the art of words and recitation, facts and fiction! The event weekend includes author interviews, panels, speeches, and lectures, cross-disciplinary live performances, clubs, and fair programming suitable for families with children.
The event features around a hundred exhibitors. Conveniently acquire the whole family’s Christmas gift books from the booths, and amidst the fair finds, you can relax and enjoy the book weekend at Viinimaailma and Tampere Hall’s own restaurants.
This year, confirmed participants among the authors releasing new works and other performers include, for example, Kjell Westö, Juha Itkonen, Raija Oranen, Sirpa Kähkönen, Tommi Liimatta, Ann-Christin Antell, Alivaltiosihteeri, singer Maija Vilkkumaa together with Miina Supinen, as well as the ‘parents’ of Tatu and Patu, Aino Havukainen and Sami Toivonen, performing in the new Children’s Area. The list of leading domestic fiction and non-fiction literature names coming to Tampere will be complemented in early autumn.
In addition to the literary program, this year’s festival will especially focus on the expanded wine area and the proximity to Christmas. A novelty on the festival grounds is a Christmas market, where besides books, you can find many other things to enhance the Christmas spirit.
