Independent tour – all equipment included.

Embark on an unforgettable 50-kilometer canoeing journey that begins and ends at Lake Längelmävesi. This two-day loop route takes you through some of Finland’s most beautiful lake landscapes, offering a unique combination of natural beauty, cultural heritage and active recreation.

Day 1: Längelmävesi – Ihari – Pälkänevesi – Kostianvirta – Mallasvesi – Roine

Start your journey on the clear waters of Längelmävesi, surrounded by lush forests and idyllic countryside. As you paddle, imagine how these lakes once formed a single basin that flowed into Roine through the Sarsansalmi strait. In 1604, a dramatic natural event altered the waterways when the waters of Pälkänevesi broke through Syrjänharju ridge, creating Kostianvirta and changing the flow direction of the waterways.

Continue to Mallasvesi, where the eastern shore is lined with verdant meadows and rural scenery. As evening approaches, reach the peaceful Hautsaari Island on Lake Roine, where you’ll set up camp. Hautsaari offers a tranquil setting for relaxation in a Tentsile tent, allowing you to sleep among the trees and enjoy the soothing sounds of the lake.

Day 2: Roine – Saarikylät – Kaivanto Canal – Längelmävesi

In the morning, continue on the waters of Roine toward the Saarikylät area, also known as the “Åland of Inland Finland.” Saarikylät is a community of small villages located on the islands and peninsulas of Roine. The area’s idyllic rural landscape, traditional farms and lush meadows leave a lasting impression on every visitor.

Along the way, you can stop at Haavisto Farm, home to the artisanal bakery and seasonal café Heikin Leipä. Enjoy organic products like freshly baked bread, pastries, and honey before continuing toward Kaivanto Canal.

Kaivanto Canal connects Längelmävesi and Roine. After the canal, you’ll return to Längelmävesi, where you can reflect on the historical changes to the region’s waterways and enjoy the peace of nature.
