“Nobody in their right mind would come to Finland in November”.
Have you ever heard this?
Yes, November is known as the most depressing season, but people living in Finland know that the weather is an attitude. And they’ve learned to enjoy it to the fullest: if it’s dark and raining you can go to a sauna, swim in a cold lake, put on your wellingtons and light a fire in the forest.
Visit Tampere and Visit Finland invited 5 successful international Instagrammers: Julian Herbrig, Ása Steinars, Julia Kivela, Daniel Taipale, Magomed Shapiev to experience all this and show the beauty of Finland at the end of November. Top Instagram bloggers, whose powerful pictures are worth a thousand words, spent a long weekend in the wilderness, enjoying pure nature, saunas and local food. Get inspired by their brilliant pictures and recreate the adventure!
We rented cars and headed to some of the most beautiful nature destinations in the region – Helvetinjärvi National Park and Kintulammi, discovering many hidden gems on the way. Stunning views, a yurt sauna in the dark forest, a dip into the ice cold lake in the middle of nowhere, beautiful campfire sites and the best treats of the Finnish Lakeland in the open air made this adventure unforgettable.
A challenge for the photographers turned into a challenge for one of the best local chefs. Sakari Savolainen from Tullin Sauna & Bistro joined the crew for all of the days to treat the campers with great food – from early breakfasts before sunrise to fancy dinners in the evening. His skills were put into a proper test at Helvetinjätvi and Kintulammi, where he had to cook his menu over an open fire at public campfire sites, at the mercy of mother nature.
