The Finnish aviation administration Finavia states that continuing the connection is a result of persistent efforts.
– In cooperation with the whole Tampere Region, we have put in a lot of effort to persuading Ryanair to continue the flight connection between Tampere and Budapest. We will still continue to work on getting some much needed additional flight routes established as well, tells Finavia’s Regional Manager and Airport Manager, Mari Nurminen.
There will be flights from Tampere to Budapest twice a week. The departure times from Tampere will be Wednesday and Sunday evenings. Return flights from Budapest will arrive to Tampere-Pirkkala airport on the same days.
Finavia continues to negotiate opening new routes and flight connections with Ryanair and other airlines. Tampere-Pirkkala is a key airport alongside Helsinki-Vantaa and Turku airports.
– We have invested over 20 million euros to developing the Tampere-Pirkkala airport in recent years. In November, we will be introduce new fly methods, which utilize the satellite-based navigation system. Thanks to this new system, landing to the airport will be smoother also in worse conditions such as fog or snow, Nurminen continues.
