The Finnish aviation administration Finavia states that this connection is a result of persistent efforts.
– In cooperation with the whole Tampere Region, we have put in a lot of effort to persuading Ryanair to start the flight connection between Tampere and London. It is great to notice that this work proved to be successful. This very route is quite important for the businesses, and it is also popular among leisure travellers, says Harri Ojala, Director of Investments and Global Operations at Business Tampere.
There will be flights from Tampere to London twice a week. The departure times from Tampere will be Tuesday and Saturday evenings. Return flights from London will arrive at Tampere-Pirkkala airport on the same days.
Finavia continues to negotiate opening new routes and flight connections with Ryanair and other airlines. Tampere-Pirkkala is a key airport alongside Helsinki-Vantaa and Turku airports.
– We believe that tourism will revive after the pandemic next winter. Vaccination programmes gives us hope. The desire to travel exists both in Finland and in the UK. There will be a lot of travellers in both directions on this route, says Marja Aalto, Senior Specialist in Visit Tampere.
