Sustainable Congresses

The City of Tampere has made a strong commitment to implement and promote ecologically, socially, culturally and economically sustainable policies in the city. Tampere aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. As Tampere is a very compact city and nearly everything is within a convenient walking or cycling distance. Conference delegates are encouraged to enjoy some fresh air and walk from their hotels to the conference site. It is most likely faster than taking a taxi. When walking or cycling is not an option, consider using Tampere’s extensive public transportation network. The City of Tampere intends to be a pioneer in hosting sustainable events and has been actively greening events by, for example, advising event organizers and cooperating with projects such as Eco-Compass that aim to make events and the city more sustainable. Tampere has also been a Fairtrade City since 2008.

Tampere is partaking in the Sustainable Travel Finland programme designed for tourism companies and destinations in Finland.

Tampere Convention Bureau is committed to promoting sustainable congresses. We work towards a common goal to achieve carbon neutrality in congresses organized in Tampere.  Sustainability is a top priority at Tampere University and their in-house PCO follows their sustainability guidelines.

Congress delegates may find sustainable choices during their stay on the Tampere. Finland app.
