Ähtäri Zoo is Finland’s oldest natural animal park and one of Finland’s most popular family destinations. Along with Scandinavian animals, Ähtäri Zoo is now also home to the first giant pandas in the Nordic countries! The Ähtäri Panda House houses spacious rooms for the panda couple Hua Baolle (Pyry) and Jin BaoBaolle (Lumi). Visitors have plenty of room to observe the pandas both in- and outside, as well as enjoy refreshments at Snowpanda Deli&Café.
The three-kilometre main route of the animal park offers green nature with animals like snow leopards, bears, moose and lynx along the way. Ähtäri Zoo houses over 50 different species in their natural environment, and one of Ähtäri’s main missions is to preserve nature’s diversity as well as endangered species. During the tour you’ll get interesting information about the animals and nature, and you can stop to various points to enjoy a snack break. You’ll also encounter Finnish farm animals at the traditional farm house milieu of Zoo Farm.
