Finland’s first modern canal for log floating and water regulation was built in 1958-1961 and revisioned in 1958-1961. Lempäälä’s canal is 1,275 kilometers long. Today the canal serve mostly cruises and boats. Silver line ship travel on Wednesdays Tampere-Hämeenlinna (stop at Lempäälä canal at 11:55) and on Tuesdays Hämeenlinna-Tampere (stop at Lempäälä at 17:10). Make cruise trip e.g. to Visavuori or Tampere joined with bus and to Hämeenlinna with the train.
