What would be a nicer way to spend a summer day than by picking strawberries or other berries directly in the garden where they\u2019re grown? You can find several berry growers around Tampere, and at least strawberries and raspberries are on the menu.<\/p>\n
Within just half-an-hour drive from Tampere you\u2019ll find the picturesque town of H\u00e4meenkyr\u00f6<\/strong>, famous for the lovely scenery that inspired Nobel-awarded author, F.E. Sillanp\u00e4\u00e4. When you drive on the aptly named Maisematie (Scenery road in Finnish), you get to admire for example the lovely views over the Sarkkilanj\u00e4rvi lake. Along the road, there are some berry gardens where you can pick berries, buy fresh local produce and enjoy the summer.<\/p>\n Yrj\u00f6l\u00e4 Farm<\/strong> offers lovely lakeside views and the possibility to pick strawberries or raspberries. There\u2019s a shop and cafeteria, where you get to taste for example the lovely soft berry ice cream made on the farm \u2013 it\u2019s exquisite! The smile on the kids\u2019 faces (and why not adults\u2019 as well) will only get bigger when they see the cute farm animals ready to be petted and the play areas where they can let off some steam. Almost next door to Yrj\u00f6l\u00e4, there\u2019s the Ylirautia farm<\/strong>, offering the possibility to pick strawberries and raspberries. A small summer caf\u00e9 and a playground with swings and a trampoline are ready to make your visit worthwhile. Nikkil\u00e4 farm<\/strong>, where ripe strawberries are waiting to be picked, is also in the same, beautiful road.<\/p>\n Twenty minutes to the other direction from Tampere is the town of Kangasala<\/strong>, where you can find local food and berry gardens. Berry garden Tyrnikka<\/strong> grows strawberries, highbush blueberries and buckthorn. The buckthorn can be self-picked or bought in the farm shop. Also located in Kangasala is MarjaPuntari<\/strong> which grows strawberries without any pesticides. During the season you can come and pick some strawberries or buy them at the Kangasala market square or at Ahlman farm shop in Tampere.<\/p>\n
