Parks in Tampere<\/h2>\n

Koskipuisto<\/a> is a park stretching from the shopping centre Koskikeskus all the way to the front of the main fire station. In the summertime, especially the grass area from the H\u00e4meensilta bridge towards the cascading part of the Tammerkoski rapids is busy with people enjoying a picnic, the warm day, the view to the rapids and the summer feeling. There\u2019s also a big playground nearby to keep the smallest ones of the family happy and busy on the swings, slides and spider nets.<\/p>\n

H\u00e4meenpuisto<\/a> is the city\u2019s own boulevard, where there are many events going on in the summertime and in the middle of the park, next to the main library, you can enjoy some ice cream or refreshing drinks too. H\u00e4meenpuisto stretches from Etel\u00e4puisto park on the shore of Pyh\u00e4j\u00e4rvi lake to N\u00e4sinpuisto park close to N\u00e4sij\u00e4rvi lake. Etel\u00e4puisto <\/a>is a more quiet park, although in the summer you might find yourself in the middle of a big festival there as it also serves as a venue for many events. The other end of H\u00e4meenpuisto, N\u00e4sinpuisto<\/a>, is more to the liking of families with kids as there is a fairytale-like playground there, based on a popular children\u2019s book TheTumpkin\u2019s story tree by author Kirsi Kunnas. Here, you can sit on a giant armchair and watch the clear blue sky. There\u2019s room for more grown-up visitors as well in N\u00e4sinpuisto, with space for a picnic blanket and a bottle of bubbly.<\/p>\n

Next to the Tampere Hall you\u2019ll find Sorsapuisto<\/strong> park, where in the summer you can also meet the birds which have been brought into the park every summer for the last 70 years to bring joy to the children and adults alike. A big playground<\/a> was also recently built in the park to keep the kids active and pleased for hours \u2013 that is if walking around the park enjoying the water, the atmosphere and the birds isn\u2019t enough. Inside the Tampere Hall you can find the beloved Moomins<\/a>, and outside in the park you can see some sculptures by Viktor Jansson, the father of the Moomins\u2019 creator Tove Jansson.<\/p>\n

Hatanp\u00e4\u00e4 arboretum<\/h2>\n

Hatanp\u00e4\u00e4 arboretum <\/a>is truly of Tampere\u2019s absolute gems. Located in the area of the Hatanp\u00e4\u00e4 mansion, this naturally beautiful and vast park area on the shore of the lake Pyh\u00e4j\u00e4rvi is the favourite place for many joggers, relaxers, locals and visitors. Behind the mansion there\u2019s also an exquisite rose garden, that wil be in full bloom later in the summer, around July and August. The summer caf\u00e9 Arboretum is a nice place for a small snack or a drink.<\/p>\n

Pyynikki<\/h2>\n

Another absolute gem in Tampere is of course the mighty Pyynikki<\/a> area. Pyynikki is a place for athletes, sunbathers, swimmers, sweet teeth, culture lovers, visitors and locals alike as the area is home to forest, trails, beach, the greatest doughnuts in the world, summer theatre and the legendary Pyynikki observation tower. And a hotel. And an outdoor activity park. Well, something for everyone! The main attraction of the area though are the lovely views and landscapes that this world\u2019s highest gravel ridge has to offer, over the blue lakes and the green forests.<\/p>\n

Kauppi<\/h2>\n

Kauppi<\/strong> forest is located just a stone\u2019s throw from the center of Tampere. The location of the Kauppi forest on the shores of Lake N\u00e4sij\u00e4rvi makes the area a great destination for daily sport enthusiasts. Kauppi includes about 32 kilometres of lighted outdoor trails, a private bowling alley, a greyhound track and an archery range. In summer, the area has the opportunity to play baseball. In addition, Kauppi has both genuine and artificial turf football fields in active use.<\/p>\n
