Hervanta<\/h2>\n

Hervanta<\/strong> has a couple of stunning hiking and nature areas. The Hervantaj\u00e4rvi hiking and conservation area<\/a> is about a 300-meter walk from the final tram stop<\/strong>. The Hervantaj\u00e4rvi area offers around 10 kilometers of marked hiking trails and two campfire sites. At Viitastenper\u00e4, there is a unique, organically designed lean-to shelter with wood shed and dry toilets. The Hervantaj\u00e4rvi area is ideal for activities such as walking, skiing, biking, and trail running. If you’re looking for a longer adventure, the trails lead towards south, where they connect with the Kaarinanpolku trail in Kangasala<\/strong> and the Birgitanpolku trail in Lemp\u00e4\u00e4l\u00e4<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Also within walking distance from a tram stop, you’ll find the Suolij\u00e4rvi nature trail<\/a>, which is 4.5 kilometers long and runs entirely along the shoreline of Suolij\u00e4rvi. In the fall of 2023, the Mielenreitti nature trail was completed in the Suolij\u00e4rvi area, featuring stories and paintings along the way. Suolij\u00e4rvi lake also has a popular beach.<\/p>\n

Kauppi<\/h2>\n

Hop on the tram and head towards Kauppi<\/strong>! From the Tampere University Hospital (TAYS)<\/strong> tram stop<\/strong>, it’s a short walk to Kauppi Sports Park<\/a>, which offers sports trails and routes in the summer and ski tracks in the winter. There are plenty of outdoor routes of varying lenghts crisscrossing in the forests of Kauppi, with 32 kilometres of illuminated trails. For example, route Kunto Kolmonen is a popular route near N\u00e4sij\u00e4rvi lake. In the heart of Kauppi Sports Park is located the Kauppi stadium<\/strong>, where Finnish baseball is played in the summer. During winter, it serves as a skiing stadium.<\/p>\n

Located a bit further away, you’ll find the three-kilometer-long Niihama nature trail<\/a>. It starts at the Niihaman maja<\/strong>, where you’ll find a campfire spot<\/strong>, a caf\u00e9<\/strong> and a public sauna<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Pyynikki<\/h2>\n

The beautiful Pyynikki nature reserve<\/strong><\/a> is just a few tram stops away from the city center and is surely one of the most popular recreational areas in the city. Get off at the Pyynikintori tram stop<\/strong>, start climbing towards Pyynikinharju ridge<\/a>, and soon you might catch the scent of the world-famous doughnuts from the Pyynikki observation towers caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Pyynikki offers several outdoor trails, and in recent years, wooden stairs and railings along the trails have been renovated. Next to the observation tower, there is an information board and a map of the area. You can enjoy outdoor activities in Pyynikki year-round, with some trails illuminated and serving ski tracks in the winter time.<\/p>\n
