The Finnish National Ballet visits Tampere Hall on 25–26 May. The gala performances open with Moomin and the Magician’s Hat, a ballet meant for the whole family. After the intermission, it is time for the culmination of the entire spring season: the Finnish National Ballet’s grand gala.Moomin and the Magician’s Hat is based on Tove Jansson’s novel and produced by choreographer Kenneth Greve, known for his popular ballets, and composer Tuomas Kantelinen. The piece follows the familiar story of a mysterious magician’s hat and has charmed sold-out audiences in Japan, Helsinki and Oulu.The grand gala, in its turn, is a versatile compilation of classic ballet and modern dance. You will see a selection of classic ballets, such as Javier Torres’s Sleeping Beauty, Alexei Ratmansky’s Anna Karenina and Kenneth Greve’s The Snow Queen. The gala also includes interesting contemporary dance pieces, specifically tailored for the ballet dancers.
