Images flowing in the work are like sporadic, recurring mental images of the mind that seemingly have nothing in common. The work is not about glitter, rather it is a metaphor. It ponders over longing, trying, daring and things which people find and choose to have in their lives. Everyone has their own “glitter dreams” and they can’t be judged.
Alisa Javits is a visual artist working in Helsinki with video, installation and VJing. She graduated from Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. In her work, she mixes photographic and filmic working methods. The works are often built both as 1-channel projections for the screenings and as multi-channel projection installations. The main theme of the works is the contradiction between the inner and the outer in people. They approach for instance loneliness, desire, aging, sexuality and otherness. The purpose is to build emotions rather that clear stories, and appeal to people’s associations, rather than reason.
Exhibition is on display 9.3.-26.3. in Mältinranta Art Center.
