Colour cannot be touched. It touches us, however, in many different ways.
A Small Exhibition of Colour evokes colour-related perceptions and experiences. How do we see colours and how do they affect us? How is the evolution of colour pigments reflected in the history of art? What meanings are loaded within the red colour?
The exhibition features pearls highlighting the use of colour from the Serlachius art collection. Also featured are loan works from museum collections and contemporary artists.
The exhibition’s artists are: Carolus Enckell, Magnus Enckell, Jussi Goman, Päivi Hintsanen, Pekka Jylhä, Marra Lampi, Alexander Lauréus, William Lönnberg, Claude Monet, Riiko Sakkinen, Sigrid Schauman, Helene Schjerfbeck, Georges von Swetlik, Reidar Särestöniemi, Anu Tuominen and Rafael Wardi.
The exhibition has been designed by head curator Laura Kuurne, and teacher and colour specialist Hannele Karppinen.
Exhibition is on display in Art Museum Gösta 23 Feb–8 Sep 2019.
