Ready to test your nerves? Challenge yourself with a rope abseil from the Pyynikki Observation Tower. Standing atop the 26-meter-high tower on the ridge, you’ll feel like you’re above the entire landscape. This activity is suitable for almost everyone – it’s not about strength but courage. Abseiling is available on a first-come, first-served basis on Saturdays from 12 pm to 2 pm.
Grab your skates and slide into the holiday spirit! You can head to the artificial rinks in Sorsapuisto and Koulukatu, for example.
Looking for skiing? Sappee opens its slopes on December 20th. Always check the resorts’ own channels for current opening hours and slope conditions.
At Rauhaniemi public sauna, you can take a refreshing dip in Lake Näsijärvi. If the water seems too daunting, step outside the sauna to cool down and enjoy the view. You can also experience sauna culture at the Sauna Temple!

Sorin Sirkus’s Christmas show, Soriversum, takes its audience to uncharted star systems and offers a hilarious and surprising saga. Performances run until January 10, 2026.
At Mobilia Finnish Museum of Car and Road in Kangasala, you can journey into the world of magnificent old cars. Mobilia is closed for Christmas but reopens on January 2, 2026.
Take an atmospheric walk around Tampere city center as evening falls and experience Tove Jansson’s first Moomin story in a completely new way! The Moomin’s Journey Home light art installations are part of Tampere Festival of Light. You can delve into the story and explore the Light Gallery which can be admired until March 8, 2026. Also, the buildings around Central Square are illuminated with Moomin-themed light installations, bringing winter magic until January 7, 2026. The lights are on daily from 4 pm to 10 pm.
Thrilling indoor activities
Escape rooms offer a memorable end or beginning to the year, even with a smaller group. Room Escape Tampere’s escape rooms are accessible and family-friendly, open during the holiday season.
At the Irti Maasta climbing center, you can climb solo or with a friend. Challenges are available for climbers of all ages and levels and you can refuel with energy at the café between climbs.
What could be a better time for shopping than the Christmas holidays? Stores in both Ratina and Ideapark in Lempäälä are open.
Trampolin Park Wild offers various trampolines for jumping, tricks and games. Try out their trampoline runway for practicing routines or bounce into foam pits from trampolines.
At Särkänniemi’s Aquarium, you can peek beneath the surface and explore reptiles, amphibians, up to about two hundred fish species, as well as the true stars of the aquarium – the axolotls.
