In the world’s only Moomin Museum you can sense the wisdom, humour, adventure and kindness found in all the Moomin books and illustrations. These are also the things that draw enthusiasts to visit the Moomins time and time again!

Moomin Museum offers a chance to vividly experience the whole story of the Moomins, from the great flood to the floating midsummer theatre and from the mystery of the lighthouse island to the disappearance in November. The narration follows the twelve Moomin books, written and illustrated by Tove Jansson. The Moomin experience is perfected with a guided tour to the museum. Remember to visit the Studio as well – there are guided workshops available every day.

The Moomin Museum is a new kind of an experiential art museum for art lovers and Moomin fans of all ages. The exhibits comprise a unique collection of original Moomin art donated to Tampere Art Museum by Jansson in 1986.

The museum visit is completed by the cozy restaurant of the Tampere Hall, Tuhto, as well as the Moomin Museum Reading Room and shop.

Welcome to the unique Moomin experience!

Restaurant Tuhto and The Moomin Menu

Continue your Moomin adventures with a culinary journey in the restaurant Tuhto. Tuhto is the Finnish name of Toft, the small whomper that appears in Tove Jansson’s book Moominvalley in November. The restaurant shares the same roof with the museum and invites you to enjoy the delights of Moominmamma’s kitchen.

Order the Moomin Menu that consists of the Moomins’ favourite dishes. Among them, creamy fish soup (everybody knows how the Moomins love fish soup!), home grown pork topped with a delicious sauce highlighting another moomin favourite: spruce tips, and a scrumptious stack of Moominmamma’s traditional pancakes topped with straweberyy jam. Kids version of the menu includes Tuhto burger and Snufkin’s fish plate.
