The Kauppilanmäki open air museum is situated on the south shore of the canal, a few hundred meters from Myllysaari museum. There are five houses in the area that illustrate paper workes’ living conditions from late 1800s to the early 1900s.

In the area there are also a workers’ hall, smoke sauna and a couple of storage buildings. In summer, different events such as theatre evenings are organised in this nostalgic atmosphere where one can really get a sense of the old times.
