Lauri Viita Museum

Lauri Viita (1916–1965) is one of the most significant Finnish authors of all time. This working-class writer was born in Pispala, Tampere, and followed in his father’s footsteps, becoming a carpenter. Viita’s most famous novel, Moreeni (‘Moraine’), published in 1950, depicts a working-class family’s colourful life in Pispala in the early 20th century. The museum is open on weekends during summer time.
