Pyynikin harju ridge is a significant geological formation and is considered to be the highest gravel ridge in the world. Pyynikki was turned into a nature reserve in 1993. The nature trail provides access to ridge and grove vegetation. The trail starts from the Pyynikki observation tower and is 4 km long. Cycling is only allowed on the marked routes. Mountain biking is not allowed.
