The Tampere-based media and light art event Projio will be held for the sixth time in the Finlayson area from 16 to 21 October 2025. The event is free and open to everyone. In addition to the Finlayson area, the event will also cast the Torni Hotel in a new light.

The exhibition Digital Self explores how we are visible both online and in physical space. Online, identity is not just a mask or a role, but also a way to connect, share, remember, and imagine. Alongside media and web art, light sculptures bring a physical, spatial, and almost tangible dimension to the contemplation of identity.

The works range from gestures of everyday life to visual abundance, from technological glitches to personal stories. They reveal how the digital self can be both fragile and playful, intimate and public, private and communal.

The exhibition reflects on the ways in which culture constructs and deconstructs identity. Lorna Mills’ feverish GIF aesthetic explores the limits of overload and excess. Maya Man examines intimacy and awkwardness in the networked self-presentation. Rosa Menkman exposes the structures and disruptions that shape perception.

Rather than offering a single image of the “digital self,” the exhibition reveals a spectrum – playful, fragmented, hyper-visible, and unstable. The works illuminate how technology not only mirrors but also actively constructs who we are, how we connect, and how we imagine ourselves in relation to others.

The exhibition features works by the following artists:
