Tampere’s tourism strategy is a shared vision for the entire tourism sector, providing guidelines for development over the next five years. With an ambitious goal of achieving a billion-euro economic impact by 2030, we invite you to join us on this journey!

Towards a billion

Our shared goal towards the year 2030 is to to make Tampere an even more attractive and international travel destination. Our objectives build on the experiences of previous strategies while also introducing new priorities and opportunities. In addition to fostering international appeal, our key focus areas on the path to a billion include adhering to the principles of sustainable development, maintaining domestic appeal, and supporting the experience economy.

Process

The Tampere Tourism Strategy 2025–2030 building process included engaging our key stakeholders: the City of Tampere (key departments), Visit Tampere Ltd board members, the Tampere Chamber of Commerce – tourism and events committee, the region’s municipalities, and the Visit Tampere Partner Network (clients).

We utilized live and hybrid sessions, as well as our Howspace online co-working platform, to collect feedback and activate dialogue within our stakeholder network.

A key part of the process was the involvement of the entire Visit Tampere staff – not only as participants but as core experts. Their insights were essential in shaping the strategy, and their participation ensured both strong commitment and a shared sense of ownership.

TAAS – Tourism as a Service Interreg Europe project provided an additional resource for our strategy development.  TAAS project focuses in strategic transition towards smart and sustainable tourism. Knowledge exchange, peer learning and local stakeholder cooperation done in the project enabled us to improve especially smart and sustainable and  and seamless accessibility key focus areas of the strategy, with overall view on digitalization and digital customer pathway development.
