Midsummer 2026 in the Tampere region

White nights, Finnish summer, Midsummer bonfires and open-air dances. Tampere and the surrounding region offers all this and much more!

What’s happening in Tampere in Midsummer?

This Midsummer, you can celebrate the White Night from Friday to Sunday in Tampere’s green oasis, Viikinsaari! The island is open and ferries run on Midsummer’s Eve from 10.00 to 00.30, on Midsummer’s Day from 10.00 to 22.30 and on Midsummer Sunday from 10.00 to 18.30. Ferries depart from Laukontori on the hour, with return trips from the island always at half past the hour. In true Midsummer style, there will be sauna and swimming, games in the garden and, weather permitting, a Midsummer bonfire. On Midsummer’s Eve, Viikinsaari will also host a Midsummer dance, with Visa & Valoilmiö getting the Midsummer crowd dancing. Antti Toivola and Irina Isberg will also be there to entertain with their music. After the dancing, DJ Manna will be playing hit songs on the terrace until late into the night. Don’t forget the Midsummer buffet at Restaurant Viikinsaari!

G Livelab, located right next to Keskustori Central Square, will be hosting Napanderfest on Midsummer’s Eve. As the name suggests, Napanderfest will feature Martti Servo & Napander. As a free additional attraction to the evening gig, DJs Antti Puntti Siukola and Matti Salmela will be performing on the G Livelab terrace from 17 and 20. On Midsummer’s Day, the Annika Eklund Duo will take to the stage, followed later in the evening by Eläkeläiset.

Tavara-asemais hosting Midsummer Festival on Friday and Saturday. Expect a full line-up of Finnish rock and rap, plus the best laughs of the summer with stand-up comedy. Check out the full programme on the Tavara-asema website!

And don’t forget Kessa Bar’s legendary Midsummer celebrations in Teisko, Tampere! Party-goers can enjoy karaoke and dance to the DJ’s tunes. On Midsummer’s Day, Riemu and Ratto will be performing on the outdoor stage at 19.

Särkänniemi is open throughout Midsummer! As well as whizzing around on the rides, you can, for example, pop into the Retro – Särkänniemi Arcade and meet the animals at Doghill Fairytale Farm! If you want to take your Midsummer experience to the next level, treat yourself to a meal at Restaurant Näsinneula. The revolving dining room offers a magnificent view of the Tampere skyline that changes as you dine and the dishes conjured up by the kitchen take the experience to an even higher level.

On Sunday 21 June, Tallipiha will be celebrating Midsummer from 11 to 17. Come and enjoy the wonderful Midsummer atmosphere, delicious food and atmospheric music. The lovely ponies will be there, and pony rides will be available 11-15. In addition, the wonderful Marianne Kantola Trio will be performing from 12 to add to the Midsummer atmosphere. The shops and café will be closed on Midsummer’s Eve and Midsummer’s Day.

Let’s go to the sauna!

The Midsummer sauna awaits you in the sauna capital! In the lakeside scenery of Kaupinoja, the Midsummer sauna is heated on Friday between 15-21.15 and on Saturday and Sunday between 12-21.15.

The sauna at Viikinsaari will also be open over Midsummer. It will be heated on Midsummer’s Eve and Midsummer’s Day between 15-21 and on Sunday between 13-17. Meanwhile, Kaukajärvi sauna will be open on everyday at Midsummer between 12-22.

Celebrate City Midsummer at sauna-restaurant Kuuma! The saunas are hot, the drinks are cold and the atmosphere is at its best. The saunas are heated every day from Friday to Sunday. The floating sauna-restaurant Flou located in the Ratina bay, is also open throughout Midsummer.

How about celebrating Midsummer in saunas and a jacuzzi high above the rooftops? Periscope’s saunas are open for public use from Thursday to Saturday between 12-15. The evening continues on the rooftop terrace with great music, food and cold drinks. You can also enjoy a sauna high above the city rooftops on the Laawu rooftop terrace at Lapland Hotels ArenaFriday to Sunday between 16-22 and on Saturday and Sunday mornings between 8-11.

Enjoy Delicious food

Not everyone gets the chance to fire up the grill at Midsummer, but fortunately many of Tampere’s excellent restaurants are open throughout the holiday!

At Muusa, you can get a head start on the Midsummer celebrations, as restaurant’s traditional Sunday brunch will be served with a special Midsummer theme on 14.6.

You can also enjoy the world-famous doughnuts during Midsummer! The Pyynikki Observation Tower and Café will be open on Midsummer Eve between 9-18, while the café is otherwise open daily between 9-21. The coffee break is topped off by stunning views over Pyynikki and the surrounding lakes.

Roka Street Bistro Tampere will be serving its delicious street food and bistro dishes throughout the Midsummer holiday. Meanwhile, you can watch the rushing waters of the Tammerkoski rapids from Restaurant Puisto, which will be open every day during Midsummer.

Tampere’s oldest pizzeria, Pizzeria Napoli, will be open throughout the holiday period. Pizza lovers can also visit Pizzeria Luca and Via Tribunali, both of which will be serving hungry guests every day over Midsummer.

Other fun things to do at Midsummer

You can take a dip at Tampere Outdoor Swimming Pool throughout Midsummer. It will be open on Midsummer’s Eve from 7 to 14, on Midsummer’s Day from 13 to 20 and on Sunday from 10 to 18.

Hopealinjat is offering cruises in Tampere over Midsummer! Hop on board at Laukontori Harbour and enjoy the ship’s Midsummer menu and refreshments. Check the timetables and find out more about the cruises on the Hopealinjat website!

H5 is hosting the biggest Midsummer cottage party around! Admission is free all evening, and the festivities will be powered by DJ Justin Case and Uncle Mici. Meanwhile, the newly opened end of the world themed restaurant Utopia, its courtyard venue Utopiha, and Desibeli will join forces for Midsummer celebration running from Thursday to Sunday. Expect a summery atmosphere, traditional cottage games, cold drinks, and plenty of dancing. At Telakka, Midsummer festivities include a music quiz and DJ to keep the celebration going.

What’s happening in the region?

This Midsummer, Punkalaidun will host a new kind of festival on 19–20 June called Tanssi tai kuole. At this unique event, the biggest names in Finnish indie music will perform Finnish hits and Eurovision songs with special line-ups on the Särkkä dance stage, situated in the middle of the lake. The festival will feature performances suchs as Saimaa, Litku Klemetti, Arppa & Jiri-serkku and Antti Autio. The food and drink selection consists of carefully chosen products from artisan producers and microbreweries.

Ikaalinen Spa & Resort is hosting a White Night celebration on Midsummer’s Eve and Midsummer’s Day. There will be a wide range of activities and fun things to do such as sauna rituals, horse carriage rides and on Midsummer’s Eve a bonfire if the weather is suitable.

On 19 June, Nokia will be celebrating Midsummer at Tehdassaari. The festivities will feature live music, saunas, food and sparkling wine. The evening’s entertainment will be provided by Drainyard, a band blending various styles of rock and One More Night Duo, a top-class cover band.

The Serlachius in Mänttä-Vilppula is open as usual, even over Midsummer. At the museum, you can admire a wide range of artworks and enjoy the magnificent surroundings of the Serlachius Manor, not to mention the delicious dishes at Restaurant Gösta! You can easily reach Serlachius from Tampere city centre on the Sauna & Art Express bus throughout Midsummer.

The Vehoniemi Car Museum in Kangasala is also open over Midsummer. The Vehoniemi Museum, café, observation tower and museum shop will be open on Midsummer’s Eve from 10 to 21 and over the weekend from 10 to 19. In Kangasala, you can also visit The Museum of Car and Road Mobilia to explore fascinating cars and the history of road transport on Midsummer’s Day and Sunday from 10 to 18. Mobilia is closed on Midsummer’s Eve.

In Juupajoki, Midsummer is celebrated with a brunch at Wallenius Wapriikki. Handmade delicacies, live music and the atmospheric factory setting guarantee a festive atmosphere. During your visit, you can also admire a variety of art exhibitions and do some shopping in the idyllic boutique!

You can spend Midsummer’s Eve at Ilola Farm in Valkeakoski, where you can pet the farm animals and there will also be a bonfire especially for the children to admire. Visavuori, the artist’s home and studio of sculptor Emil Wikström, also located in Valkeakoski, will be open throughout Midsummer from 11 to 17.

At Narva Farm Accommodation in Vesilahti, you can enjoy Midsummer in the peaceful surroundings of the countryside and get to know the farmyard animals and pet chickens. A traditional Midsummer market is also held in Narva, Vesilahti, on Midsummer’s Eve, and you can soak up the market atmosphere in Kirkonkylä from 11 to 14.

On Midsummer Day at 14, the waters of Kyröskoski will once again be allowed to flow freely. During this event, visitors have a rare opportunity to witness the powerful rush of water from up close.

Let’s dance!

On Midsummer’s Eve, people traditionally dance the night away at open-air dances and there’s plenty of lively dancing on many stages. On Midsummer’s Eve Nurmi Stage in Lempäälä, will feature Johanna Rantsi & Mojova, whilst Toivola Stage in Ylöjärvi, will be brought to life by Timo Rahkonen & the Jake Niska Band on Midsummer’s Eve and by Risto Nevala & Yhtye on Midsummer’s Day.

Rönni’s Midsummer celebrations will treat dancers with a spectacular line-up! Suvi Teräsniska will charm the crowd with her hits, Stig will get the party started, and A. Aalto’s Rhythm Orchestra will keep you dancing long into the night. On Midsummer’s Day, a delicious Midsummer buffet will once again be served!

At Kisaranta in Kangasala, one of Finland’s best-known dance venues, people will be dancing through the white nights on Midsummer’s Eve to the music of Sami Rosholmen & Sävel. Meanwhile, in Pälkäne Laitikkala community centre will host Midsummer dances to the music of Anniina Suhonen & Hehku on Midsummer’s Day. There will also be a varied programme at the Vehkakoski Beach Stage in Mänttä-Vilppula, accompanied by Ilkka Koivula & the Norola Boys on Midsummer’s Day.
