Near the entrance to Tampere Hall, you may come across a familiar face: an adorable Moomintroll statue. Located along the Moomin Museum Path, the bronze statue stands on a low natural stone, where you can sit down for a photo with Moomintroll – or even give him a hug.

The statue was modelled after a Moomintroll figure made from Styrofoam in the 1980s by artist Tuulikki Pietilä, Tove Jansson’s life partner. The figure was cast in bronze in 2004 at the initiative of architect Raili Pietilä. Moomintroll moved to his current location next to Tampere Hall in 2017.
