Pirkanmaa Saxophone Festival: Saxophone Spotlight

The Saxophone Spotlight Concert showcases the versatility of the saxophone with top performers. Originally designed for classical music orchestras, the saxophone has since become an iconic jazz instrument and adapts to numerous genres, thanks to its exceptional expressiveness – thanks to its wide dynamic range, mechanism enabling virtuosic play, and extensive palette of effects.

The concert is divided into two halves: the first half emphasizing classical music and the second half focusing on rhythm music. The saxophone will be heard in the concert as a quartet, solo, in a marimba duet, as part of a big band, and as its soloist. From delicate melodies to swinging rhythms, stylish solos, soft sounds, and expanded techniques – this concert offers it all!

The duration of the concert is approximately 2 hours, including one intermission.
