Anna Thorvaldsdottir: Catamorphosis
Sergei Rachmaninoff: Piano Concerto No. 2
Jean Sibelius: Symphony No. 3

Icelandic composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir is counted among the most original composers of our time, and her orchestral works are among the most recognizable in contemporary classical music. Catamorphosis, delving into the inexplicable whirlwind of emotions, grasps the core of consciousness with full force. Sergei Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto, dedicated to his therapist, propelled the composer rapidly to the world stage and permanently into the annals of history. The concerto’s soloist is Mackenzie Melemed, winner of the Maj Lind Piano Competition and acclaimed as a “wonder boy” American pianist. In Jean Sibelius’s distinctly classical third symphony, one can hear not only the moods of nature but also influences from Finnish folk music and playful rhythmic elements.
