Something creepy

Creepy Carnival in Särkänniemi theme park draws inspiration from the exotic carnival culture and the atmosphere of the evening funfairs. In October you can also experience the lit up rides of the Särkänniemi amusement park in the darker time of year. In addition to the rides, the dazzling programme at the carnival will surely keep the whole family entertained. Circus and pyro artists, colourful dance act, zombie attacks and other creepy events guarantee a fun, scary day – and evening- at Särkänniemi 4.–6.10. and 10.–19.10.2024.

All romantic and moody atmosphere

At night time a walk along the Tammerkoski rapids is definitely the thing to add to your bucket list. Places like Kehräsaari, Verkaranta, Frenckell, Tampella and Finlayson are all part of  the industrial heritage in Tampere and are situated by the rapids. From Tammerkoski nature trail you can find information on the flora and fauna of the area.

Hämärät tunnit, translated as Twilight hours, will be spent at Tallipiha Stable Yards on Friday 11 and 18 of October from 6pm to 10pm. Enjoy the atmosphere of Stable Yards and the beautiful lighting! Delicious treats and drinks will be served until the late evening at the café’s terrace. There will also be artisans with their products, so keep and eye out for potential Christmas gift discoveries.

Media and light art event Projio will be organized for the 5th time at Finlayson area. You can admire light art between October 17–22.

Pay a visit to Kangasala Arts Centre, located in the center of Kangasala, a 20-minute drive from Tampere city center. Kangasala Arts Centre’s event repertoire includes classical and light music, visual arts, theater, cinema, dance and literature.

Nature and activities

Feeling like climbing trees? Then Flowpark Varala is the place to go! The beautiful lake views at Pyynikki and over 20-meter heights are worth experiencing.

Pyynikki nature reserve nearby the city centre is a lovely place to relax and go for a walk. There’s also a nature trail in the area. Make sure you have time for a visit the Pyynikki Observation Tower and taste the famous doughnuts.

Team work and problem solving in the historical Finlayson factory area, Unfold Finlayson is a mixture of innovative problem solving, fascinating places and beautiful views overlooking the city as well as Lake Näsijärvi. Sauna!

While you’re in Tampere, in the Sauna Capital of the World, sauna is a must! The world’s sauna capital offers a variety of sauna experiences for every taste. For a cozy sauna experience, try the Sauna Temple, located in Rauhaniemi, next to the popular Rauhaniemi Folk Spa and its public sauna. Another great option is Rajaportti sauna, which is the oldest public sauna still in use in the whole Finland. In the heart of the city, you can visit Sauna restaurant Kuuma, where after the sauna you can sit down for drinks or stay for a long dinner. The saunas at Kuuma will be closed from the 21st of October onwards due to renovation.
