Ohana Grille
Ohana’s burgers need no introductions when it comes to locals, as they are voted year after year to be the best in town, and rightly so. Found in the Tampere Market Hall, Ohana Grille and Bakery invest in using local produce and ingredients, and making everything from scratch. For example the impressive brioches come from their bakery across the corridor, and the ingredients for the steaks from a couple of shops away, from the meat vendor selling local produce from small farms. Ohana is always relaxed and even when there’s queue forming in front of the till, you never have to wait for your meal for too long.
Umami
At the sushi bar Imami you can enjoy the most delicious sushi in Tampere, made with the best attitude. The dishes are made daily form the ingredients that are available, and the restaurant closes its doors when they run out of rice – sushi master Liqun Zhang can’t tolerate any food being wasted and values true encounters over production figures. Umami emphasizes on being able to serve each customer individually and offering the best, sometimes even surprising, culinary experiences without any rush. Umami can’t be found on social media, but only in the Market Hall. Despite of not being on-line, the sushi bar is almost always full of customers. That means it’s also worth the occasional queue!
Japanese Restaurant Natsu
Take a culinary journey to Japan at Natsu, located in the Market Hall alongside its sushi bar. Natsu aims to bring a piece of Japan right to the heart of Tampere. What is Japanese food beyond sushi? It’s easy to find out at Natsu, where you’ll never get bored with the menu as it is constantly updated. Expect freshness, vibrancy, and flavors like wasabi and chili. While dining, you can also admire the tranquil fish swimming in the aquarium.
Kotilounas
On the Hallituskatu street end of the Market Hall, you can find Kotilounas (which means “home lunch”), serving traditional Finnish flavours with a relaxed and friendly touch. The lunch menu changes daily and there are also discounts for students from the already affordable prices.
Restaurant 4 Seasons
Graving for Eggs Benedict or a fresh croissant for breakfast? Or maybe a French lunch? Restaurant 4 Seasons is an idyllic, authentic French restaurant in the old market hall. The restaurant has a rotating lunch list, but some classics are there to stay. Go ahead, and have a taste of 4 Seasons’ highly raised lunch special – the French fish soup, Bouillabaisse.
Welcome to the Market hall and its restaurants!
