If you’re a shopper but world wide clothing chains are not your (only) cup of tea, you are in the exact right place. Tampere does not fall behind Helsinki in the amount of local design stores, with the difference that in Tampere the boutiques are situated within a few minutes’ walking distance from each other. Also, in Tampere you’re likely to be buying a product straight from the designer!

Tampere design district

The block between Hatanpään valtatie, Otavalankatu, Aleksanterinkatu and Verkatehtaankatu streets has been declared the Design District of Tampere. There are plenty of stores, but to mention one, MUKA VA Flagship Store is one of the rare stores in Finland that is owned by the designers themselves and sells carefully selected items of clothing, accessories and jewellery. Uhana Design is a design company founded in 2012 in Tampere, known for its wonderful prints and distinctive and casual clothes. There is also Luin Living on Aleksanterikatu, which invests in pampering and feeling good everyday. You will also find the most amazing gift ideas and the softest bath products.

Handicraft Store Verkaranta

At the end of Verkatehtaankatu the handicraft store Verkaranta sells yarn and handicraft products from Pirkanmaa. Verkaranta also has an interesting LankaOutlet. Upstairs is the Taito Center, where you can experience the joy and experience of making crafts, as well as a small Parvi Gallery with craft exhibitions.

Kehräsaari boutiques

On the other side of Tammerkoski, in Kehräsaari, there is a workshop PikkuPutiikit, where you can find user-friendly Tampere design. The small boutique is focused on utensils, accessories and jewelry.

Aleksis Kiven katu street

At the Aleksis Kivi Street you can explore many wonderful specialty shops; not forgetting interior design, domestic design and lifestyle shops, cafes and wellness and cultural services. This is Tampere’s SoHo! Along the street are, among other things, LAURIJÄRVINEN STUDIO, the stone-foot shop is the first store in Tampere to focus strongly on the avant-garde style. Seele, Palmroth, Lili, Alex Boutique, Mosa Interior, Riiminka & Aleksiina Design and Pura.

Miela Designroom and Humbugi

At Hämeenkatu 20 you will find Miela Designroom, which is a Finnish design store. There are products for sale for women, men, children and home. The store always has about 30 Finnish brands at a time. The selection is renewed monthly.

Humbugi designs and manufactures custom accessories. The leather of Humbug’s bag may come from the surplus of the elevator renovation at a hotel in Moscow, as well as the shoe factory’s years-old specimen skins. The products are completed from design and procurement of materials to the finished product in the Hiedanranta area in Tampere.
