One of the world’s most popular immersive art experiences will be showcased at Tampere Hall. Van Gogh Alive comes to Finland for the first time from June 25 to August 17. This experience, featuring over 3,000 images, explores Vincent van Gogh in a way that transforms the entire exhibition space — walls, columns, ceiling, and floor. The world’s only Moomin Museum is open all summer, welcoming fans of Tove Jansson and the Moomins from babies to grandparents. This summer, on August 9, the museum celebrates the Moomins’ 80th anniversary with a big birthday party in honor of Tove Jansson’s birthday. The temporary exhibition Welcome to the Moominhouse! lets visitors peek into the unique Moominhouse and its secrets.

The Finlayson area is bustling with events throughout the summer. Visit The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas or enjoy an unforgettable rooftop walk above Finlayson’s rooftops with a guide. Summer is full of hustle and bustle for the whole family. Finlayson Art Area fills the streets, alleys, and venues of the Finlayson area with art from June 13 to August 24! The event spreads both indoors and outdoors, including the Finlayson Church and Finnpark.

At G Livelab, you can groove to good music several times a week. The synergy between Tampere Theatre Festival and G Livelab continues in August when TelttaLab fills up again from August 4 to 10 with amazing artists and performances from both the theatre and music worlds.

Santalahti Midsummer is a brand-new midsummer celebration taking place on June 20 in the Santalahti beach park in Tampere.

The best way to experience sports is live – and this summer, Tampere offers top-tier entertainment for disc golf fans. The European Open tournament takes place on July 18–20, followed by the Disc Golf World Championships on July 30–August 3. In August, the U20 European Athletics Championships will be held at Ratina Stadium from August 7–10, bringing together Europe’s most promising young athletes. The IVV Olympiad, an international sports event, welcomes movers of all ages and levels from August 14–17. The summer ends with a historic moment: the European Basketball Championships return to Tampere for the first time in 58 years, from August 27 to September 3!

Top-tier football can be followed at the new Tammela Stadium, where Ilves’ men’s and women’s teams compete for the Finnish championship in the Veikkausliiga and Kansallinen Liiga.

A cruise in the lakeland

Hopealinjat takes visitors to the lovely Viikinsaari island, Summer Park Concerts hosted in Laukko manor, fascinating Visavuori, as well to Hämeenlinna. Bikers can combine two wonderful experiences with the Bike & Boat combination. Enjoy a lake cruise and take your bike for a ride in wonderous countryside. Take the Tarjanne steam boat to experience lake Näsijärvi from a different angle or head to Valkeakoski from the Laukontori harbor!

Things to do

Explore the secrets of the Spy Museum located in the Finlayson area! The duration of the tour is 15-30 minutes and it is also well-suited for children.

There are also other activities suitable for the whole family or groups of friends in the Finlayson area. At Room Escape Tampere, their escape rooms will test your wits and teamwork skills. All game rooms are designed in such a way that you can safely bring along the youngest members of the family, as there is nothing scary in the rooms and no physical strength is required.

Tasty moments

Tampere is full of wonderful restaurants and summer terraces! At Sauna restaurant Kuuma, you can enjoy not only the sauna but also fantastic culinary experiences. On the terrace of Ravintola Puisto, you can sip cool drinks amidst the summer heat by the rushing rapids. Also check out the Olympia-kortteli where you can find everything on one block!

You can enjoy great food, gorgeous view over the city and amazing events throughout the summer in Restaurant Periscope. On Wednesday from 2 July to 30 July, Periscope will host Caribbean Wednesday nights, where rhythmic Afrobeat music and dance will transport you to the Caribbeans. On Friday mornings, Elixia will be offering terrace yoga from 6 June to 25 July.

If you want something nordic, head to Dabbal in Lapland Hotels Tampere or Saivo Kitchen & Bar in the sister hotel Lapland Hotels Arena. You should also go and enjoy the long summer nights and a sauna in Laawu Rooftop & Terrace by Lapland Hotels Arena located on top of the Nokia Arena!

Hidden gems of the region

The Serlachius in Mänttä is among the most noteworthy art museums in Finland. The two museums in the humble artist town of Mäntä-Vilppula offer gorgeous exhibitions and curious designs for architecture lovers. Scenery Restaurant Gösta and summer café Autereentupa are located by the Serlachius Manor and offer quality meals to visitors. You can reach the Serlachius even without your own car with the Serlachius Art & Sauna Express bus. While there, do take some time to relax in the art sauna! Mänttä also hosts the largest contemporary art exhibition in Finland, the Mänttä Art Festival. This year, the event will take place between June 15 and August 31, 2025. The exhibition, called EI, will explore the themes of locality, childhood and parenthood, the human environment, traditions, the mind and the body, and more.

Tyrvään Pappila is a lovely place to spend your summer days at. You can find lunch, à la carte, Saturday brunches and three-course menus on Sundays from the restaurant Pappila. The renovated Pappila also hosts events, concerts and exhibitions in the historical chambers and the green pastures of the chruch grounds. Free concerts will be held in the Amphitheatre from 4 June, with interesting artists and bands taking to the stage every Wednesday to delight summer nights.

In Korsukylä of Jämijärvi you can participate in experiences hosted by Korsuretket, such as kayaking excursions to gorgeous Jyllinjoki, fatbike trips to the most beautiful sights of Hämeenkangas, hiking or simply enjoying the unique atmosphere of log houses and tasting the treats made with local ingredients.

Shopping Centre Ratina is located right in the heart of Tampere. You can find all the summertime purchases, delights and fun happenings all under the same roof. Did you know that Ratina has over 100 shops?

In Lempäälä Ideapark there is something fun happening most days. In the upstairs entertainment complex you can go karting, jump on the trampoline, climb and play glow-in-the-dark minigolf. You can effortlessly stay overnight with a campervan in the Bestpark caravanpark.
