Fantasy artist John Howe takes over Tampere Hall with a comprehensive solo art exhibition from 6th of July to 18th of August. The exhibition called Journeys through the worlds of J.R.R. Tolkien , suitable for the whole family, takes its viewers into the enchanting secrets of magnificent imaginary worlds. The World’s only Moomin museum has its doors open all through the summer and welcomes everyone to enjoy the works of Tove Jansson and her beloved Moomin characters. Temporary exhibition An Artist’s Life – Tove Jansson takes a look back at Jansson’s career and the biographical milestones and relationships that shaped her artistic journey.

Great music and atmosphere is always found in G Livelab. This summer for example Robert Finley, the 69 eyes and Fest Africa artists will take the stage.

The Finlayson Area is filled with happenings and many things to do. Maybe visit the Finnish Labour Museum Werstas, which is by the way, free of charge, or get the best views of the city on the Finlayson roof walk? There’s something for the whole family! Celebrating its 10th anniversary this summer, Finlayson Art Area fills the streets, alleys, and spaces of the Finlayson area with art from June 16th to August 20th! Featuring 11 remarkable artists, the event extends across outdoor and indoor spaces within the Finlayson area, including Finlayson Church and Finnpark.

The immensely popular Demolition Art House, which garnered great success last summer, returns this summer to a new location! From June 14th to August 31st, the public is invited to Muutos.art, taking place in an office building at Voimakatu 11 in Tampere’s Ratinanranta district.

Sports fans in Tampere will be entertained this summer by the European Open Frisbee Golf tournament, taking place from July 18th to 21st, and the international top-level padel tournament, Finland Premier Padel, from July 29th to August 4th. Additionally, top-tier football action can be enjoyed at the new Tammela Stadium, as the representative teams of Ilves compete for the Finnish championship.

A cruise in the lakeland

Hopealinjat takes visitors to the lovely Viikinsaari island, Summer Park Concerts hosted in Laukko manor, fascinating Visavuori, aswell to Hämeenlinna. Bikers can combine two wonderful experiences with the Bike & Boat combination. Enjoy a lake cruise and take your bike for a ride in wonderous countryside. Take the Tarjanne steam boat to experiense lake Näsijärvi from a different angle or head to Valkeakoski from the Laukontori port!

Things to do

Explore the secrets of the Spy Museum located in the Finlayson area! The museum is open every day and additionally, on Tuesdays and Fridays, an interesting themed guided tour is included in the admission fee. The duration of the tour is 15-30 minutes and it is also well-suited for children.

There are also other activities suitable for the whole family or groups of friends in the Finlayson area. At Room Escape Tampere, their escape rooms will test your wits and teamwork skills. All game rooms are designed in such a way that you can safely bring along the youngest members of the family, as there is nothing scary in the rooms and no physical strength is required.

Tasty moments

Tampere is full of wonderful restaurants and summer terraces! At Sauna restaurant Kuuma, you can enjoy not only the sauna but also fantastic culinary experiences. On the terrace of Ravintola Puisto, you can sip cool drinks amidst the summer heat by the rushing rapids. Also check out the Olympia-kortteli where you can find everything on one block!

You can enjoy great food, gorgeous view over the city and amazing events throughout the summer in Restaurant Periscope. Every Wednesday until the 2nd of August, will the Carribean Wednesday theme evenings be hosted. Let the afrobeat take you all the way to the Carribeans. Until the 31st of July, you can also come and let go of stress on Fridays with terrace yoga hosted by Elixia.

If you want something nordic, head to Dabbal in Lapland Hotels Tampere or Saivo Kitchen & Bar in the sister hotel Arena. You should also go and enjoy the long summer nights and a sauna in Laawu Rooftop & Terrace by Lapland Hotels Arena located ontop of the Nokia Arena!

Hidden gems of the region

The Serlachius in Mänttä is among the most noteworthy art museums in Finland. The two museums in the humble artist town of Mäntä-Vilppula offer gorgeous exhibitions and curious designs for achitecture lovers. Scenery Restaurant Gösta and summer café Autureen tupa are located by the Serlachius Manor and offer quality meals to visitors. You can reach the Serlachius even without your own car with the Serlachius Art & Sauna Express bus. While there, do take some time to relax in the art sauna!

Tyrvään Pappila is a lovely place to spend your summer days at. You can find lunch, à la carte, Saturday brunches and three-course menus on Sundays from the restaurant Pappila. The renovated Pappila also hosts events, concerts and exhibitions in the historical chambers and the green pastures of the chruch grounds. You can also enjoy free concerts every Wednesday in the Amphitheatre.

In Korskukylä of Jämijärvi you can participate in experiences hosted by Korsuretket, such as kayaking excursions to gorgeous Jyllinjoki, fatbike trips to the most beautiful sights of Hämeenkangas, hiking or simply enjoying the unique athmosphere of log houses and tasting the treats made with local ingredients.

Shopping Centre Ratina is located right in the heart of Tampere. You can find all the summertime purchases, delights and fun happenings all under the same roof. Did you know that Ratina has over 100 shops?

In Lempäälä Ideapark there is something fun happening most days. In the upstairs entertainment complex you can go karting, jump on the trampoline, climb and play glow-in-the-dark minigolf. You can effortlessly stay overnight with a campervan in the Bestpark caravanpark.
